Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year!
Mr. Scott J. Baier, Head of School
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
As Head of School at Royal Palm Academy I want to first welcome our families back to school for what is going to be an incredible year!
As we reflect on the 2019-20 school year, we have certainly witnessed change in our lives. Change that was unexpected and change that was difficult. For some, our extremely busy lives came to a screeching halt. For others, it became busier and full of new challenges. In whatever ways the pandemic has changed your life, you may come to agree that it has also proven to be a time of opportunity.
This year has been filled with opportunities for us to grow as individuals. We have slowed life down and hopefully learned many things about ourselves that maybe we did not know before.
During our quiet times, many of us have turned to God for answers and for prayer. Perhaps you may have spent more time in His presence as you wondered that His plans are for all of us.
As jobs were compromised there are stories of families being able to spend more quality time together. With others forced to be isolated at home, they were able to reach out to neighbors in need. The pandemic gave us that time to do things that we may not have otherwise had time to do. It’s sad to think these things may not have happened without a pandemic.
At Royal Palm Academy we don’t need a pandemic to witness these good deeds. We challenge our students to do these same things each and every day.
I am blessed to be a part of an amazing team where I have witnessed incredible opportunities over these past months. One common thread has brought us together during these difficult times-OUR FAMILIES! We have learned to work as a team in every sense of the word. We have learned to accept the things we could not change. We learned to rely on each other’s strengths. We built each other up and became stronger together. These are the things that RPA teaches its’ students daily. The virtues of perseverance, courage, kindness, hope, and resilience were very evident throughout these trying times. This was an opportunity for us to practice what we teach!
The passion for our mission that I witnessed from our Board, Faculty, and Staff has never been clearer than it has been in these past few months. With tremendous effort, we have come together to provide our students with the excellence in education they have come to deserve. Our students remain at the heart of each and every decision we make every day at RPA.
As Theodor Seuss Geisel once said, “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”
As you enter the campus for the first time in many months, I ask you to think about the memories of the 2019-20 school year; “What did you miss most while you were away?” Then I challenge you to begin this year living in the present and thanking God every day for all He has given us. Be mindful of these small moments and don’t let them pass you by.
I am proud to be your Head of School as we welcome back The Return of the Kings!
